ABOUT

In the 1930s, the Greenwood County Power Commission developed plans to dam Saluda River to provide hydro-electric power from “Lake Greenwood.”

In 1936 the County of Greenwood began purchasing the land around the Saluda River to the 440ft. (above sea) level to create the lake reservoir.

In 1941 construction was complete, and Lake Greenwood was created.

Currently, Lake Greenwood is 11,400 acres of fun.

FunonLakeGreenwood.com is dedicated to providing information about the lake and the surrounding community , and act as a resource to the adventures and experiences that await you on, in, and around Lake Greenwood.
